FAQ

At what age can a child start using a single bed?

There isn’t a set age for when a child should move to a single bed; it depends on the individual child. Many toddlers make the switch between 18 months and three years, but this can vary. You’ll likely know your child is ready when they start climbing out of their cot. When transitioning to a single bed, it’s a good idea to add a safety rail to prevent them from rolling out, as they’re used to the enclosed sides of the cot. Alternatively, a bed that’s low to the ground can reduce the risk of falling. If a full-size single bed seems too large, a toddler bed could be a good option as it’s smaller and less intimidating.

When should a toddler transition to a single bed?

There’s no exact age for a toddler to move to a single bed, but most children make the switch between two and three years old. To make the transition smoother, you can add a bed guard or choose a bed that’s closer to the ground to lessen concerns about your child falling out of bed. Sharing a room with your toddler during this period or adding a bed guard to the single bed frame can also provide extra reassurance.

What are the dimensions of a single bed?

A single bed is typically 3 feet wide, which refers to the width of the mattress. In the UK, a standard single bed mattress measures 90x190cm, while European single beds take a mattress size of 90x200cm. The overall size of the bed frame can vary based on elements like headboards, footboards, or under-bed storage.

Can adults sleep in single beds?

Although our single bed frames are primarily designed for children, adults can still sleep in them. It’s important to note, however, that these beds are mainly built with younger sleepers in mind.
